Hitler didn't do well at socondary school, but was very interested in art. When he told his fater he was going to become an atist instead of become an Austrian Civil Service, his father was furious. Their relationship deteriotated and it ended when Alois died when Hitler was only thirteen. After his father died, Hitler remained to do terribly at school. When he was only fifteen, he dropped out of secondary school. He moved to Vienna with the money from his father's will and applied for the Vienna Academy of Art. he was rejected and then allpied to the Vienna School of Architecture and was also rejected.
Hitler's mother died of cancer in 1907. He then received his father's civil service pension and didn't need to be employed anymore.
In 1908, Hitler was asked to enlist in the Austrian Army service, he ignored the requests. He was later found to enlist, but failed to meet the medical requirements. Later when war had broke out, he moved to Germany and volunteered. He met the requirements then because there was a greater need for soldiers.
He was given the very prestigious iron cross, but was corporal at the end of a war. The reason he wasn't a higher rank because of his strange attitude toward others. He was blinded by a mustard grenade and while he was recovering, Germany surrendered.
